This Vocal Jazz vinyl brings together rare recordings from the early stages of Nina Simone’s career. It includes her earliest known recordings, made live in Atlantic City in 1956, alongside Colpix singles and other live performances. The collection features seldom-heard material from this period, including the first five tracks recorded at an Atlantic City club. These recordings were made and released without Simone’s knowledge or consent. Among the songs are “I Loves You Porgy”, “Since My Lover Has Gone”, “Black Is the Color”, “Lovin’ Woman” and “Baubles, Bangles and Beads”.
